A Review On Judy (2019)

Judy is an outstanding film of Judy Garland, and a triumph of Renée Zellweger.

Judy is a 2019 biopic about Judy Garland a few months before her passing in 1969. This film is directed by Rupert Goold, produced by David Livingstone, and screenplay by Tom Edge. It starts with 14-year-old Judy Garland (Darci Shaw) being told by her studio manager, Louis B. Mayer (Richard Cordery), that she has a beautiful voice unlike other girls. Thirty years later, and Judy (Renée Zellweger) is now 47-year-old, and suffers from substance abuse. She arrives in London to perform at the Talk of the Town nightclub. While she was there, she begins dating Mickey Deans (Finn Wittrock), a musician and her soon-to-be fifth husband.

Judy is overall, a great film and Renée Zellweger’s portrayal of Judy Garland is remarkable. Zellweger looks like Garland, walks like Garland. She captures the personality and mannerism of Garland well; she has transformed into Garland. On top of that, she sings well.
